1. Craft Design of Taiwan Bamboo-windmill
Webduino ESP-12F module is one of the simplest chips of IoT which combines Arduino and WiFi modules. This workshop will teach how to apply ESP-12F module and sensors in Bamboo-windmill which is a creative and lovely Taiwanese craft and toy. At daytime it’s a windmill; at nighttime it’s a small lantern. We collect the light and wind information throughout Bamboo-windmills. We attempt to use Fablab and IoT concepts applied in Arts and Humanities.
In FAB12 Festival, we stimulate all the participant use their Bamboo-windmills they made to make a windmill street public art by our design. At daytime the street is a public art with the rolling windmills; at nighttime the street is a public art with the lantern windmills.
PS:We gave up to use webduino which is a commercial product (it costs around US$28.) We have created ESP-12F WoT module (Web of Things) instead of webduino to reduce the cost of the materials under US$4~$7 per set. ESP-12F WoT module has a ESP-12F modular hardware, small, lightweight, low cost, easy to use, easy to expand, and other characteristics of the cloud.

2. The Application of IoT in “Bamboo-windmill”
By Webduino we make Bamboo-windmills talk to each other and we try to collect the light and wind information throughout Bamboo-windmills.
We use ESP-12F set instead of webduino to reduce the cost of the materials under US$4~$7 per set.
We have built a server system which will collect the information of wind and light from “Bamboo-windmill” wherever people bring. If the trainees don’t know javascript and web design, they can use the graphical program – Blockly, to build their “Bamboo-windmill” with IoT-windlight. If the trainees know how to write javascript and web design, we can teach them to build their “Bamboo-windmill” with advanced function.
We are planning to organize an IoT social media art which are made by all the participant. (under constrcuction !)
